Amelia's 5th Birthday Party

Last Saturday we celebrated Amelia's 5th birthday with family and friends.  Her actual birthday isn't until later in the month, but unfortunately with our busy May calendar last Saturday was the only day we could squeeze it in.  We had her party at a nearby park and invited friends from preschool and church, along with siblings and grandparents.  Amelia chose a pink John Deere theme for her party and we had lots of fun.  Guests we asked to bring no gifts but if they wanted to honor her birthday by bringing some thing then they could bring non-perishable food items for the local food bank.  We collected 4 bags of items.  She as able to open gifts from Granny, Granddaddy, Amber, and Dustin after her friends left, she got a lot of new clothes.  After the party we went to a local restaurant that we all enjoy for dinner, both sets of grandparents and big, big sister Amber were able to join us.  On her actual birthday she will receive her gifts from us and we will take her out for her dinner of choice.  I used to cook their favorite meal on their birthday's but last year I decided we would start going out unless they chose to stay home.  Going out to eat is a big deal at our house since it doesn't happen that often, so it's nice for them to get to choose on their birthday.  We had a great time!

April in a Flash!

April was an extremely busy month.  The first 2 weeks were a blur because of taxes.  Edi, Amelia, and my niece Caroline participated in our Church's Talent/Variety Show the first weekend in April.  Edi and Caroline sang The Star Spangled Banner, Amelia lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang My Country tis of Thee by herself.  Edi played her recital piece on the piano and also played Jesus Loves Me while Amelia and Caroline sang.  They did an awesome job!  For some reason I cannot find my pictures from that night though.
April was also a big house month for us, we put our rental house and our house on the market(more on that later).
The third weekend was filled with an Easter Egg Hunt and 2 Birthday Parties.  On Saturday we had our egg hunt at Church and then we had Caroline's birthday party and on Sunday we celebrated my mom and her twin sister's 60th Birthday.  There are 5 children between them and we threw them a big party, it was a lot of fun, but I took very few pictures because I was so busy with party stuff and chasing John Mac around.
For the week of Spring Break my parents took us all to Great Wolf Lodge, Busch Gardens, and Historic Williamsburg, we had a blast!  We returned home the day before Easter and enjoyed a nice Easter morning, church service, and lunch with family.
The last weekend in April; Daniel, Edi, and I went to Charleston, SC with our Cub Scout Pack to stay in the USS Yorktown.  We had a lot of fun.  It was Daniel's 3rd time going and mine and Edi's 2nd.  So April was jam packed with craziness and fun, enjoy the pictures and 2 slide shows.

March in a Nutshell

March was not all that busy family wise, but I was very busy with work.  Tax season is always very busy for me and it's just hard to do anything extra during that time of the year.  Edi did have her play at school in March and they all did a great job.  She had a few speaking parts, I don't have pictures because some of the kids without actual costumes were wearing their Drama Club t-shirts and they have her school name on them and I didn't want to post them on here.  Enjoy the few pictures I do have from March!

John Mac decided he wanted to take a stroll in the baby doll stroller!

John Mac got to ride the tractor to put it up, he loved it!

Happy Mother's Day and I'm sorry for being such a Slacker!

I cannot believe that's it's been almost 2 months since I've posted anything on the blog.  I feel like a total slacker and then I look back on the last 2 months and I realize why it's been so long.  We have been a very busy family.  I'm going to get better with posting and I'll catch you up on our past 2 months over the coming week.  For now I want to send a very Special Mother's Day wish to all the mothers in this world, wherever you are.  I feel so blessed to have a great mother and mother-in-law, my children were so sweet this morning with their little gifts and breakfast in bed, my husband is the greatest too.  I also want to thank John Mac's birth mom for caring and loving him enough to choose life for him and then making the decision to place him for adoption, most of us will never know that kind of sacrifice.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
